This Is My Beloved Son

I think I have another new favorite Primary song. Our pick for April's program song is 'This Is My Beloved Son' CS page 76. I taught it on Sunday and the kids and teachers LOVED it. I was very surprised how fast they learned it.
Here was my plan:
When I introduce a new song I like to focus on the words and meaning of the song. I found in this book how Bro. Gardner came up with the idea for the song.
Love this book. It is out of print but you can probably find it somewhere.

I also made a flip chart for later in the year to practice with.

  1. I just wanted to thank you for the awesome flip chart! You and I seem to be on the same wave length. When I first heard this song, I thought to myself, "this song could be taught with 4 pictures". The pictures I thought of were Christ's baptism picture, Christ in the white robe with the Nephites, The First Vision, and a child reading her scriptures from the Gospel art kit. I had them in my head. This has become my most favorite primary song. I just love it. Thanks again for sharing your flip chart. I'm going to show them the 4 pictures, but then I'm going to use your plan and your flip chart to teach the song.
